To delete your account and data: log in to RUSH Newstream in this browser or in the app, then return to this page (also linked from your profile) and confirm. If you can't access your account, email us via the Contact page from the address you registered with and we'll process the deletion manually.
You can request deletion of your RUSH Newstream account and any
associated personal information at any time. This page explains
how, what we delete, and how long it takes.
How to request deletion
1Email us
Send a request from the email address registered to your RUSH account to:
Use the subject line "Data Deletion Request" so we can route it quickly.
2Include the following information
- The email address associated with your RUSH account
- If you signed in with Facebook or Google, please mention that so we can locate the linked account
- Optionally, the approximate date you created the account
If you cannot send the request from your registered email address, we may ask additional questions to verify your identity before processing the deletion. This is a privacy protection — we want to make sure that no one else is asking to delete your data.
3We'll confirm and process the request
You'll receive an email confirmation within 3 business days acknowledging the request. Your account and personal data will be deleted within 30 days of confirmation, in line with the retention policy described in our Privacy Policy.
What gets deleted
- Your RUSH account record (email address, display name, password hash)
- Any linked OAuth identifiers from Google or Facebook
- Your active sessions (you will be signed out everywhere)
- Your account preferences and settings
- Your visitor identifiers used for anonymous vote claiming
What we may retain
For legal, security, and operational reasons, a small amount of information may be retained after account deletion:
- Comments you posted publicly may remain visible in anonymized form (without your display name) so that conversations other users participated in are not retroactively broken. You can request that specific comments also be removed by including the comment URLs or text in your deletion request.
- Aggregated, non-identifying activity logs (such as vote counts on news events) may be retained as statistics that cannot be linked back to you.
- Records we are legally required to keep (such as records related to fraud investigations or tax compliance, if applicable) will be retained for the period required by law.
Disconnecting Facebook or Google instead
If you only want to disconnect your Facebook or Google sign-in without deleting your RUSH account, you can do so through that provider:
- Facebook: Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → find "RUSH Newstream" → Remove
- Google: Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions → find "RUSH Newstream" → Remove access
After removing access, you'll still have your RUSH account — you can sign in with your email and password, or re-link the provider later. If you want your account fully deleted, follow the email steps above.
